FORT WALTON BEACH – A local woman is in hot water after an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputy noticed she was taking a long time at stop signs, pulled her over and discovered drugs in her car.
The incident occurred July 8, according to an arrest report. The woman was driving in the area of Reeves Drive and Bob Sikes Boulevard when a deputy noticed the woman was stopping 8 to 10 seconds at each stop sign. Fearing the driver might be impaired, the deputy pulled her over.
The driver, 26-year-old Jessica Rae Hinds of Fort Walton Beach, revealed she didn’t have a valid driver’s license and blamed her long stops on using her mobile phone.
The deputy detained her and called a tow truck to come get her vehicle. When lawmen searched her vehicle they found two rocks of crack, a set of scales, metal push rods, marijuana, and more crack in a bottle of Dramamine.
She was charged with drug possession, marijuana possession and drug equipment possession.
Her plea date is Aug. 13.
