NICEVILLE – Niceville Police arrested a man they say attacked his wife with a baseball bat then fled after a cab driver refused to give him a ride.
Officers were called to an Evans Street residence on March 3 to investigate a disturbance. There, they were told by the cab driver he heard screaming between a man and woman inside the house, then the man came out armed with a baseball bat and a bottle. The driver refused to give the man a ride and the man fled as officers arrived.
The woman said the man was her husband, though he hadn’t been living at their residence. She said he arrived by taxi and came into the house yelling at her, then hit her with his open hand and then his fists. She said he also struck her several times with the bat. During the attack, she said, she pleaded with him not to kill her so their 1-year-old son wouldn’t grow up without parents.
Officers pursued the man, now identified as 25-year-old Kedreem Deshown Andrews of Niceville. He fled into a wooded area, then escaped into a townhouse complex. He was found hiding under a deck.
He was charged with aggravated battery, burglary and resisting arrest without violence.
His court date is April 9.
