FORT WALTON BEACH — One lucky local woman will have a chance of a lifetime this Sunday when she gets the chance to have an Extreme Makeover sponsored by area businesses.

Beal Street Bottle Club, Brava Hair Studio and the Closet Swap have teamed up to give one deserving lady an Extreme Makeover.

Nominees were posted on Facebook by friends and family and narrowed down to seven women.

The winner will be selected Sunday at the Beal Street Bottle Club by customer voting. She will be whisked away to Brava Hair Studio and Day Spa where she will get a complete hair and make up change and a new outfit by the Closet Swap.

The chosen woman will then be returned to the Beal Street Bottle Club for her revel.

During the makeover, audience members will be entertained by vocalist and have a dance lesson demonstration by Loki. They will also be able to shop with local boutique vendors who will set up that night.

There is a $10 cover, a portion of which will benefit the charity of the winner's choice. All runner ups will receive $200 in services from Brava Hair Studios.

DJ

Nominated by Victoria Lell George

I nominate DJ of Niceville for the extreme makeover. She doesn't have any children of her own but mentors our children at the local elementary schools. She always has a kind word whether she is checking you out at the store or running into you out in town. She has had a positive effect on countless students, athletes, and boy/girl scouts during their weekend bagging fundraisers at our local Winn Dixie over the last 20 years.

Leaving a legacy is not about the buildings or discoveries you leave behind. It is about the effect that your everyday actions have on the people around you. DJ's genuine care for people and her quiet bubbly nature sends ripples of happiness throughout our community.

She has been diagnosed with Stage 3 ovarian cancer and has a tough road ahead of her. Come on Niceville, let's do this. Let's give DJ a well deserved day of pampering.

Kayla Lynn

Nominated by Lisa Lynn

I want to nominate my 21 yr. old daughter, Kayla Lynn. She is a full time student at NWF/UWF, works two jobs, and has a beautiful little one-year-old boy, Landon.

She is an amazing young woman who will not give up her dream to finish college.

She and her fiancé' struggle with bills, work, her school, and their son daily, but she has held them all together with her strength, courage and drive.

She spends all her available time with her son reading, playing, and enjoying him, in between working, and school work.

Kayla never has the money to do anything for herself — every dime goes toward the baby — which she so richly deserves. She is a terrific daughter, sister, and friend to everyone.

When I grow up I want to be just like her!

Angi Washington

Nominated by Sarah Herbst Drahn

I want to nominate Angi Washington-Phillips because she is one of the most positive, sweet people. She has been handed some pretty tough situations in her life , but she just goes with the flow.

When a new trial comes at her, she takes it head-on. For a normal person going through some of the situations she has been put in, they would question "why me?"

But not Angi she knows that there is reason, a purpose to everything.

She has four sons that she loves so much. She gives everything she has for them — time, money, affection.

She is also a full-time employee and does not do much for herself. She always puts her children first. If they need something for school, sports, their personal needs, that comes first. And that doesn't always leave much or anything for her.

She is a beautiful woman and does not need to change the way she looks, but deserves someone taking care of her once. She takes care of her children, family and friends unselfishly.

Senora Vanessa Wesley

Nominated by Michelle Lollie Cooper

I would like to nominate my niece Senora Vanessa Wesley.

Senora is a single mother of three, she works full time and maintains an amazing attitude towards life's challenges. Senora has had to endure obstacles that no mom should ever have to yet she is still standing! I am sure the other women nominated are deserving of this great gift as well.

Every woman deserves to feel as beautiful on the outside as we know they are on the inside! I know this would mean a lot to my niece.

Becca Jo Field

I nominate Becca Jo Field. She is young — only 22 — but has experienced more in her life than most in a lifetime.

She was in a severe car accident, her stepdad and grandfather passed away, both from cancer; she was badly burned at work, and of this was within two years.

Yet, through it all, she's always cheerful with a smile and a laugh for everyone. She is always willing to help others, even if it means she sacrifices.

She is working her dream job but still struggles to make ends meet. This makeover would give her a chance to shine for herself like she shines for others

Marion Kirkland

I nominate Marion Kirkland. She's an amazing woman that we nominate for a makeover.

She was training to become a firefighter and learned she was pregnant. She is now very pregnant and needs a makeover to make her feel better about herself. This is her first pregnancy and she is not used to all of the changes her body is going through.

Mildred

I nominate my mom, Mildred. I'm 16 so I don't always make life easy for her, not to mention she's bipolar and off of work with no pay.

I don't see a problem in attempting to get her something good and she could use a makeover. I love her for giving me everything she can and being so sweet and crazy then giving those qualities to me!
