CRESTVIEW - A man and his female companion were arrested on various charges after a Crestview Police officer spotted the man making an illegal U-turn on Ferdon Boulevard.
The incident occurred Jan. 7. The man, 26-year-old Daniel T. Oswald of Marianna, was spotted making a U-turn at spot marked with a "No U-turn" sign. An officer pulled them over on the westbound ramp of Interstate 10.
When Oswald rolled down his window, the officer smelled marijuana inside. Oswald's driver's license was expired, and he told the officer his female passenger had "a little" marijuana with her.
Oswald also admitted to having a semi-automatic pistol in the door. He did not have a concealed weapons license.
During a search of the vehicle, the officer found a pill bottle containing drugs for which Oswald did not have a prescription. The woman, meanwhile, was found to be in possession of a small bag of marijuana.
Oswald was charged with possession of a concealed firearm, driving with a license that was over six months expired, possession of new legend drugs without a prescription.
The woman was charged with possession of marijuana less than 20 grams.
His court date is Feb. 26; hers is Jan. 29.
