CRESTVIEW - A man and woman tried to scam a local discount store out of cash for items they didn't buy, according to a Crestvew Police Department arrest report.
On Dec. 7 a woman allegedly took three bags of dog food and left Walmart without paying for them, the officer wrote in the report. On Dec. 28 she returned with a receipt and tried to get a refund totalling $59.54.
She was with a man, who picked out five containers of cider totalling $22.40. He also tried to get a receipt for the cider - although he hadn't bought it.
Police question the duo, who said they had found receipts in the parking lot, took them inside, picked out the items on the receipts and tried to get a refund.
Both were charged with retail theft, and both have Jan. 29 court dates.
