A 25-year-old DeFuniak Springs man suspected of robbing SunTrust Bank on U.S. Highway 331 in DeFuniak Springs on Monday has been moved to the Walton County Jail and a $50,000 bond has been set.
Jordan Townsend has been charged with robbery with a firearm, but that could change as the investigation continues, DeFuniak Spring Police Capt. Mike Lolley said.
Although Townsend threatened the teller with a weapon, none was found on him, Lolley said. Witnesses also did not see a weapon.
Lolley did not release how much money was stolen, but said Townsend had spent about $100 of it before he was caught.
Surveillance footage at the bank captured the robber, later identified as Townsend.
Santa Rosa County sheriff’s deputies found him later at a Stuckey’s truck stop at the Garcon Point Road exit along Interstate 10.
