DESTIN - An Okaloosa County Sheriff's deputy said two men who were refused entry to a nightclub became angry and shouted expletives to security personnel. One man broke the taillight on a truck, and when the deputy tried to catch him, the other man intervened.
On Dec. 16 the two tried to get into Nightown without paying and were escorted out of the building, the deputy wrote in the arrest report. Once outside they began shouting obscenities to security staffers. The deputy and a member of the security staff followed to make sure they didn't try to get in through a different door. The deputy saw one of the men strike a pickup truck's taillight and break it, and he ordered the two to stop. They ran.
The deputy gave chase and caught up with the other man, who stopped and prevented the deputy from pursuing the man who'd broken the taillight. The deputy ordered him to move but he blocked the deputy's path. When the deputy tried to handcuff him, the man said, "I'll f------- kill you man."
He was finally handcuffed.
He was charged with crimes against a person and obstruction without violence. The Sheriff's Office identified him as 19-year-old Evan Erreguin of Destin.
His court date is Jan. 16.
