SHALIMAR - A 48-year-old Shalimar man faces charges after he allegedly picked up his girlfriend by the throat and kicked her.
On Dec. 5 Okaloosa County Sheriff's deputies intervened in a domestic dispute between a woman and her boyfriend of one year.
The woman told deputies her boyfriend picked her up by the "neck area" and that she couldn't breathe or talk while he did this. He also kicked her several times in the chest, and punched her in the face.
When she tried to escape their residence and get help, the man came outside and dragged her back inside.
The deputy who wrote the arrest report noted the woman had visible injuries.
The man was charged with battery by strangulation, and false imprisonment. His court date is Jan. 29.
