An empty school bus was involved in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning on Lewis Turner Boulevard.
Bus driver Nancy D. Gregory, 51, of Fort Walton Beach, was turning onto Lewis Turner from Mooney Road about 5:30 a.m. when a pickup truck ran a red light in front of her, according to a news release from the Florida Highway Patrol.
The front of the bus struck the driver’s side of Shawn G. Griffin’s pickup truck. The impact forced the truck up onto a curb, according to the report.
Neither the 27-year-old driver, nor his passenger, two-year-old Khloe Griffin, was injured. They both live in Navarre.
Gregory also did not sustain any injuries.
According to the report, when Griffin was asked about the crash, he said “he glanced down to see the time, and when he looked back up he saw that the light was red, he then took evasive action, but collision was inevitable.”
He was charged with failure to obey a traffic control device.
