Re: “GOP scandal show” (letter, June 9). Let’s take this one item at a time.
The last thing we need to do is strengthen our bloated government. Republicans are having hearings to stop the corruption that’s in so many departments. “See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil” does not bode well for a transparent government.
The GOP tax cuts were for everyone. Democrats allowed GE to pay no taxes whatsoever. Both parties approved the stimulus to repair our crumbling infrastructure. However, the Democrats spent much of that money to prop up union pensions disguised as the auto bailout.
We already have background checks for gun sales. However, in 2010, the Department of Justice reported that 72,600 people lied on their background checks but only 44 were prosecuted. And you want more laws on background checks?
Minimum wages are for entry-level jobs, not living wages. Raising those wages causes loss of entry-level jobs.
Where is the consumer confidence with millions of people out of work and on food stamps and welfare? Wall Street is booming because the Fed is funneling billions of freshly printed dollars into it. The real market isn’t even involved.
There was no need for more funding for Benghazi. Marines should have been guarding our ambassador, but the State Department opted to hire locals at $4 an hour with no assurance of security. The real Benghazi scandal was our government ordering a stand-down instead of rescuing our people.
There is no common good in working together for our destruction. Open your eyes and ears to the lies being told.
