LETTER: OK, I'm a bigot

This is in reference to the June 1 letter, “Uncaring attitude.” Like another letter on the same page, “All will be saved,” it makes grandiose interpretations of what Christians are supposed to believe.
The writer of “Uncaring attitude” states that “any rational person” should know that homosexuality is not a choice; it is “who they are.” Prior to that, she asserts what Jesus would feel about this issue.
A little-known fact, obscured by the gay movement, is that there is little or no evidence regarding a genetic foundation for homosexuality; it doesn’t exist.
Second, while the letter writer’s interpretation of Christianity cites Jesus’ strong teachings of love, kindness and compassion, Jesus did not condone sin. To the adulteress He saved from stoning, He said, “And sin no more …”
Compassion, yes. Tolerance for sin, no.
Less than 2 percent of our nation appears to value and practice homosexuality. And not only do they want to change our valued, time-tested truths, they will tell me that I’m a bigot if I don’t.
To that accusation, I plead guilty. I am also a bigot because I am against murders, thieves and those who commit adultery. It is not because of some sort of genetic problem these people have, but because God, over and over, condemned these practices, along with homosexuality.
