What has happened to the Grand Old Party?
At a time when we need to strengthen our government, not weaken it, the GOP is occupied with inquisitions and interrogations instead of ideas and positive legislation. Republicans’ weekly scandal show is full of sound bites and empty rhetoric, signifying nothing.
The GOP jobs program is tax cuts for the rich. That’s really worked!
Republicans’ economic stimulus? Provide subsidies for wealthy organizations.
They voted against equal pay for equal work, raising the minimum wage and funding programs to repair our crumbling infrastructure — all no-brainer legislation with positive outcomes.
Eighty percent of Americans wanted background checks for gun sales. Republicans failed to pass the bill, and almost 5,000 people have died from gun violence since Sandy Hook.
Totally without their help and despite their obstruction, our president has pulled this country out of a depression, restored consumer confidence, returned Wall Street retirement investments to a record high and helped add millions of jobs. He has ended one war and is drawing another to a close.
The real scandal in Benghazi was that House Republicans refused funding for added security several times prior to the incident.
The real concern involving the Internal Revenue Service is that tea partiers have applied for numerous 501(c)(4) funds possibly for political purposes, not the social programs for which they are designated — a criminal offense.
The Associated Press has a fine line to walk. Releasing information about undercover agents endangers the lives of true patriots.
It’s time to stop the dog-and-pony shows and work together for the common good!
