LETTER: Sitting in silence

One of the reasons America is unique has to do with its Christian heritage. “The God of the Bible is the basis upon which we began as a nation and upon whom our rights and liberties are made secure,” said Judge Roy Moore. Our Founders declared their allegiance to God in our Declaration of Independence and Constitution.
However, there is a definite agenda to remove God and biblical principles from our nation. A small minority is transforming America … and most Christians and pastors sit in silence.
Prayer was banned in school despite the fact that our Founders and past presidents turned to God in prayer … and Christians are silent.
Secularists/atheists have demanded removal of the Ten Commandments from public facilities, removal of references to Christmas from school functions, removal of Nativity scenes, removal of crosses placed in memory of veterans, etc. … and Christians are silent.
Lawsuits are in progress to remove “In God We Trust” from all U.S. coins … and Christians are silent.
Textbook writers are rewriting history to remove the deep biblical principles on which our nation and our Constitution were founded … and Christians are silent.
Since 1973, 54.5 million innocent babies have been aborted … and Christians are silent.
Traditional, biblical marriage is under attack … and Christians are silent.
It appears that many Christians and pastors are afraid to speak out against social issues not in line with God’s Word. Shouldn’t their primary concern be what God says? Silence and apathy from Christians and pastors will result in devastating damage to our culture and nation and dishonor to God!
