SANTA ROSA BEACH — A former employee of Sandcastle Escapes was arrested Wednesday on embezzlement charges.
Officials with the Walton County Sheriff’s Office began investigating 36-year-old Wesley Allen Shelton in early March alleging that the Santa Rosa Beach man wrote checks to himself from the company.
According to a Sheriff’s Office press release, Shelton worked at the condominium rental agency from April 2010 until April 2012 embezzling an estimated $24,945 from the company.
Investigators believe there was no legitimate reason for Shelton to write the checks. He was charged with engaging in a scheme to defraud and grand theft of over $20,000.
Shelton was booked in the Walton County Department of Corrections with a $25,000 bond.
