Rachel Morrison, president of the Junior League of the Emerald Coast, said the newest members of the club take on a service project each year. This spring they chose to landscape the Science Center.
“The Junior League was one of the founding organizations for the Emerald Coast Science Center, so we thought it was great to get out there and help clean it up a bit,” Morrison said. “We like the idea of continuing to work with those same organizations we’ve worked with in the past.”
The Junior League will spend a total of eight hours beautifying the front of the Science Center, according to member Melissa Spears.
Spears said the women started last Sunday clearing away weeds, raking leaves, trimming and prepping for this Sunday, when they will add plantings and stones for “curb appeal.”
“These ladies have put in a lot of time and effort to make sure this is a success,” Spears said. “This project is in line with our mission of improving the lives of children.”
