NICEVILLE — No identification has been made on the woman found in Rocky Bayou on Sunday morning, according to officials.

Detective Rhonda Willis with the Niceville Police Department said the woman has not been listed locally as a missing person.

Her body was found by a passer-by in the water near the shore at the end of 11th Street about 7 a.m.

Investigators estimate she may have been in the water about 12 hours, but the exact length of time has not been determined. It was no longer than a day, Willis said.

The woman was white, possibly in her 30s and about 5 feet, 3 inches tall. She had brown hair and blue eyes and was wearing Capri blue jeans and a gray shirt when her body was found.

Willis said it could take several days to get identification from the woman’s fingerprints.

Medical Examiner Andrea Minyard was conducting an autopsy Monday but had not yet been able to provide cause of death. It was unknown whether foul play was involved.

“We’re still on hold for more info,” Willis said. “All other leads have failed to lead to anything.”

Police are asking for anyone who may have been in the area fishing or boating Saturday night or early Sunday morning to contact Willis at 850-729-4030 or the police department’s anonymous tip line at 850-729-4020.

“We’re asking for anyone to contact us that might have seen anybody or heard anything late at night or early in the morning that could give us any kind of clue,” she said.
