MIRAMAR BEACH — A 43-year-old Alabama man has been arrested and charged with sexual battery of a 16- or 17-year-old youth, according to the Walton County Sheriff‘s Office.
Raymond Louis Smith of Birmingham brought a minor to Florida in January without the parents’ permission.
Smith and the minor stayed at a rental property in Miramar Beach, where they had sex twice, the Sheriff‘s Office reported.
He bought the minor alcohol, clothing and jewelry and paid for the minor to get a tattoo.
The FBI assisted the Sheriff‘s Office and the Hoover, Ala., Police Department in the case.
Smith was arrested in Hoover and charged with two counts of sexual battery on a victim 16 or 17 years old. He was taken to the Walton County Jail on Friday and then released on $20,000 bond Saturday, according to jail records.
