Officials have lifted the boil water notice for Okaloosa Island.
The precautionary notice was ended Friday morning after state-mandated bacterial tests came back negative, according to Jeff Littrell, the director of Water and Sewer for the county.
The notice was originally issued Wednesday evening after a crane on a barge struck Brooks Bridge and ruptured the main water line to the island running on the side of the bridge.
Water was collected in three different locations — one upstream of the break, one downstream of the break and one in the area of the break — for the test, Littrell said.
