MILTON — The woman killed in a traffic crash Thursday night on Interstate 10 at Mile Marker 20 was Laurie Ann Povinelli, 50, of Milton, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
Povinelli was driving west on Interstate 10 in the left lane in a 2005 Chevrolet Aveo around 8:15 p.m. when she veered left and traveled into the center grass median, FHP reported.
The vehicle then rotated counterclockwise through the median and slid into the eastbound lanes into the path of 28-year-old Milton resident Joshua S. Poole's 2008 Jeep Liberty, the release said.
The front of the Aveo hit the right side of Poole's vehicle causing the Jeep to rotate clockwise and overturn on its right side, the release said. The impact caused $8,000 in damages to the Aveo and $10,000 of damages to the Jeep.
Povinelli died from her injuries.
Poole was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital with serious injuries.
It is not known if alcohol was a factor in the crash. Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
