FORT WALTON BEACH – A local man was arrested after he refused to pay his drink tab at a local nightspot, then tangled with an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputy who was trying to restrain him.

On March 3 the man, 24-year-old Jerrell Antwoine Brown, no address listed, started a tab at Club 10 on Siebert Drive. He amassed a $40 total and when a club employee tried to get him to pay his bill, he became belligerent and muttered something about a gun, according to the arrest report. Club employees called the Sheriff’s Office.

When a deputy arrived, Brown was still refusing to pay his bill. When the deputy tried to restrain him, he pulled away. Between the deputy and the club’s security personnel, he was eventually restrained.

As the deputy was escorting Brown off the premises he suddenly pulled away and “squared up” to the deputy. The deputy grabbed him to back him out the door and Brown fell down. When he got up, he became “extremely combative” and refused to get into the deputy’s patrol car. The deputy took him down until he calmed down.

He was charged with defrauding an innkeeper – under $300, and resisting an officer without violence.

His court date is March 26.
