MUSKEGON, Mich. (AP) — A community college baseball team in West Michigan took to the field with snow shovels in attempt to clear the way for next week's home opener.

Under the direction of head coach Cap Pohlman, the 30-member Muskegon Community College team spent nearly two hours shoveling the infield Thursday. They took turns piling snow into the bed of a trailer pulled by Pohlman using a lawn tractor.

Team member Stephan Chandonnet tells The Muskegon Chronicle (http://bit.ly/YQUds6 ): "This is what we get for playing baseball in Michigan."

The game is scheduled for Tuesday against Owens Community College, but the coach says it will take a "miracle" for the game to go forward because of all the snow. The team is expected back out on the field Friday and possibly during the weekend.
