FORT WALTON BEACH – A man is accused of breaking into a car, taking the owners’ belongings, then lying to an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputy about what he was doing.
On March 4 a deputy patrolling the Green Acres Boulevard-Schneider Drive area was approached by a person who said they saw a man holding what appeared to be a juvenile boy on the ground.
What the deputy learned was this: A woman came out of her residence and saw 29-year-old Terry Randall Stone of Fort Walton Beach in her car. He got out with a bag of her belongings, looked at her, then struggled with her as she grabbed the bag. She called her husband for help and Stone took off. The woman’s husband captured him on Schneider and held him until deputies arrived.
In the bag were a gold ring, two Gameboy Advances, a credit card, an iPod, and $20 in change.
Stone told a deputy he’d been putting business cards on vehicles, then said he was inside the car because he thought it was a friend’s car. He later denied being in the car and said he opened the door to put something inside.
He is charged with burglary to a conveyance and larceny. His court date is April 9.
