CRESTVIEW - A motorist was in critical condition Wednesday night after a crash on Interstate 10 east of town that afternoon.
Richard Shawn McDaniel, 37, of Missouri, was driving a 1991 Dodge pickup truck with a trailer eastbound about 4:20 p.m. when Joseph Marshall Jones, 52, of Mississippi, maneuvered his semitrailer from the emergency lane into traffic, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. McDaniel’s pickup hit the rear of the semi.
McDaniel was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital of Pensacola in critical condition, the FHP reported. Jones was not hurt and his passenger suffered only minor injuries.
Charges were pending.
