SHALIMAR - A Fort Walton Beach man faces a pair of charges after he was stopped for not wearing a seatbelt and lawmen found suspected drug equipment in his car.
On Nov. 26, Roddrae Sequoy Coward, 26, was stopped in Shalimar after an Okaloosa County Sheriff's deputy saw him driving without a seatbelt. When the deputy spoke with Coward, he thought he could smell marijuana in the car.
The deputy learned Coward's driver's license had been suspended since September, and he'd been convicted of driving with a suspended license on two earlier occasions.
While searching Coward's vehicle, the deputy found a digital scale that contained green residue, and white residue in the glove compartment. The white residue tested positive for cocaine.
Coward was charged with driving with a suspended license and possesion of drug paraphernalia.
His court date is Jan. 29.
