DESTIN — First Baptist Church, 201 Beach Drive, will host two services March 3 for special appearances by legendary Florida State University coach Bobby Bowden.

“We extend an invitation to all area residents to come and be motivated, moved and challenged by one of the greatest football coaches of all time,” said church pastor Dr. Farren Roper.

The man who led Florida State to more than 300 victories, two national championships, 12 Atlantic Coast Conference titles, finishing in the top five in the country in 14 straight seasons, and led the Seminoles to Bowl Games in 28-consecutive seasons during his 34-year tenure will take the pulpit at 9 and 11 a.m. at First Baptist Destin.

The service at 9 will also feature the youth choir from Rocky Bayou Christian School with campus at First Baptist Destin.

Bowden, known as much for his affable charm as he is for his championship teams, is an icon of college football and a model of faith who is heavily involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

He and his wife of 61 years, Ann, live in Tallahassee.
