CRESTVIEW - A homeless man was arrested after he tried to leave a local discount store with a comforter set and a toaster.
On Jan. 12 the man was spotted inside Walmart on South Ferdon Boulevard. He allegedly placed a comforter set valued at $84.96 and a toaster oven valued at $39.92 in a shopping cart. He then passed the last point of sale and about to leave the store before he was confronted by employees.
He initially said a friend had the receipt, but later changed his story to indicate he was stealing the merchandise. He said he planned to use the comforter set at his campsite and return the toaster oven for cash.
He was charged with retail theft and has a Jan. 29 court date.
